2002-2003 ACI Student Fellowship Recipients:
Raissa Douglas is pursuing a master's and PhD degree in civil engineering with a concentration in structural engineering and materials at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, under the advisement of Dr. Surendra P. Shah. She recently completed a BS degree in civil engineering at Howard University, Washington, DC, and took the Professional Engineer licensure exam. She is currently conducting research on self-consolidating concrete for ACBM and PCA. Her career goal is to become a licensed engineer and work in public infrastructure management and to eventually teach at the university level. One of her long-term goals is to establish a nonprofit organization that would encourage students to pursue the study of engineering. Faculty nominator: Gajanan M. Amy L. C. Kehrer recently completed a BS in civil engineering with a concentration in structures and geotechnical at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, where she is now pursuing a master's degree in civil and environmental engineering with a concentration in structures and materials. Upon completion, she aims to become a licensed professional engineer and own and manage her own bridge design firm. Faculty nominator: James K. Katherine G. Kuder completed a BS from Gonzaga University in civil engineering and a master's degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, where she is currently pursuing her PhD. She is also conducting research in the area of cementitious materials under Professor Surendra P. Shah at the Center for Advanced Cement-Based Materials. Justin D. Brennan is currently attending Pennsylvania State University's Schreyer's Honor College, University Park, PA, where he is completing both a bachelor's and master's degree simultaneously. His future goals include pursuing a PhD, taking the Professional Engineer licensure exam, and becoming a professor for a Big Ten University in the field of structural engineering. 2002-2003 V. Mohan Malhotra Scholarship Recipient:
Jennifer Duquette recently completed a BS from the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada, and is currently working toward her master's degree, which she hopes to complete in spring 2003. Her long-term goal is to pursue a career as a consulting engineer.
2002-2003 Kumar Mehta Scholarship Recipient:
Steven P. Cline recently received a BS degree in civil engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in civil engineering at the University of Illinois. Ultimately, he would like to establish his own structural consulting firm specializing in earthquake engineering, earthquake retrofitting, and building restoration.
2002-2003 ACI Scholarship Recipient:
Stephan A. Durham is currently pursuing a master's in civil engineering with an emphasis in structures at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR, where he also assists Dr. John Schemmel in the evaluation of precast concrete slab panels. Audra L. Hansen recently received a BS degree in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Omaha, NE, where she is currently earning her master's degree. Her long-term career goals are to become either a university faculty member or a senior design engineer at a structural engineering firm.

Britta M. Goldstein currently attends the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, where she studies civil engineering with plans to receive her bachelor's degree in the spring of 2003. Her career goals include working as a project engineer or on international projects, and ultimately teaching civil engineering classes.

Monica A. Starnes was selected for her paper "Quantitative Infrared Thermography for Quality Control of Concrete Structures Strengthened with FRP Composites". She currently attends the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is performing an internship at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
