Fellowships & Scholarships

Serving the industry by establishing and distributing fellowships and scholarships to high potential students in concrete-related graduate and undergraduate degree programs.

All applicants must submit the following five items:

    1. Applicant's contact and educational information.
    2. A resume - Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or Acrobat Adobe (.pdf) format
    3. A 500-word essay.
    4. Official transcripts - English language & with a 4.0 grading scale
    5. Two endorsements (one MUST be an ACI member

Fellowship Applications

    Fellowship recipients will receive the following:

    • $10,000 USD educational stipend for tuition, residence, books, and materials;
    • Appropriate recognition in Concrete International magazine and on the Foundation website;
    • Paid travel expenses and attendance fees to two ACI conventions (must be used during the award year). Fellowship finalists must attend the Spring ACI Convention to be interviewed.
    • Matched with an industry mentor.

    More Information:

  • ACI Foundation fellowships can be awarded to international students; however, you must attend an institution in U.S., Canada or Mexico during the award cycle.
  • Some of the fellowships expect the awardee to complete a 10- to 12-week internship during the summer of 2025.
  • Those applicants chosen as a finalist for an ACI Foundation fellowship will be notified by February 2025 and must be available to attend an interview with the Scholarship Council on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the spring ACI Concrete Convention. ACI Foundation will pay for the flight, hotel, registration, and will include a travel stipend.
  • All applicants must be proficient in the English language. If English is not your native language, you can upload a copy of your TOEFL score to your application. This is optional and not required.
  • The educational stipend is paid in two equal installments over the course of one year directly to the student to cover expenses related to tuition, room and board, books, student fees, etc. Receipt of stipends is contingent upon attendance at scheduled ACI Concrete Conventions during the award cycle.
  • Fellowship awardees are expected to submit a written report near the end of their fellowship period describing the value of the fellowship to their personal development and to their preparation for their chosen career after graduation.



ACI Foundation MENA Student Excellence Award

      MENA recipients will receive the following:

    • $7,000 USD educational stipend for tuition, residence, books, and materials;
    • Airfare, hotel, travel stipend, and registration to attend one North American ACI Concrete Convention (travel contingent upon state and country laws ) for an in-person interview, travel to one ACI Middle East Conference, and travel within the Middle East region to obtain ACI certification
    • Matched with an industry mentor.
    • Appropriate recognition in Concrete International magazine and on the Foundation website;

    More Information:

  • ACI Foundation fellowships can be awarded to international students; however, you must attend an institution of higher education in the Gulf Cooperation Council region (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates), Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, or Tunisia.
  • Those applicants chosen as a finalist for an ACI Foundation fellowship must be available to attend an interview with the Scholarship Council on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the spring ACI Concrete Convention. ACI Foundation will pay for the flight, hotel, registration, and will include a travel stipend. You must apply and receive a Visa from your country to attend the ACI Concrete Convention.
  • All applicants must be proficient in the English language. If English is not your native language, a written statement must be attached to the application attesting this proficiency or a copy of the TOEFL results.
  • The educational stipend is paid in two equal installments over the course of one year directly to the student to cover expenses related to tuition, room and board, books, student fees, etc. Receipt of stipends is contingent upon attendance at scheduled ACI Concrete Conventions during the award cycle.
  • Fellowship awardees are expected to submit a written report near the end of their fellowship period describing the value of the fellowship to their personal development and to their preparation for their chosen career after graduation.



Scholarship Applications

    Scholarship recipients will receive the following:

    • $5,000 educational stipend for tuition, residence, books, and materials; and
    • Appropriate recognition in Concrete International magazine and on the Foundation website.

    More Information:

  • ACI Foundation scholarships can be awarded to international students unless an award sponsor has a specific requirement for area or region of study.
  • The award cycle for this application period is the 2025 fall semester through the 2026 spring semester.
  • To be eligible for a graduate scholarship, you must be a full-time student in a master's or PhD program during the entire award cycle. Applicants must not have exceeded their second year of a master's program or fourth year of a PhD program.
  • To be eligible for an undergraduate scholarship, the applicant must be a full-time undergraduate at the time of applying for and during the entire award cycle.
  • The scholarship stipend is paid in two equal installments over one year to the financial aid/registrar office of the institution where the study program will be pursued. These funds will then be deposited into the recipient's educational institution account.

The ACI Foundation awards over $450,000 annually to students to both further their studies, and which provides professional exposure to the concrete industry and ACI by funding their travel to a number of ACI Concrete Conventions. Promoted globally through ACI’s network of faculty members, these awards are given to the brightest and best students studying concrete.
