ACI Kansas Chapter Establishes New Scholarship Through ACI Foundation Honoring Mike and Donna Murray

The ACI Foundation, in partnership with the ACI Kansas Chapter, is proud to announce the Mike and Donna Murray Scholarship, a new award honoring a couple whose more than 60 years of dedication helped shape the concrete industry across the Kansas City area and beyond.

Mike Murray began his career as a concrete finisher in 1964 and went on to found two successful Kansas City companies: Murray Concrete, a contracting firm, and Decorative Concrete Supply, co-founded with his wife, Donna, following their work in stamped and colored concrete. Together, they were active participants in ACI and industry events at both the local and national level for decades.

Mike and Donna also founded Concrete Cares, a nonprofit helping families manage cancer-related expenses during treatment, a mission they described as fighting cancer "the concrete way, one yard at a time."

Donna passed away in 2025 at the age of 81. Even in retirement, Mike continues to serve the industry and those in need. The Mike and Donna Murray Scholarship honors their shared legacy of leadership, generosity, and commitment to advancing the concrete profession, and ensures that legacy lives on through the next generation of students entering the field.

The Mike and Donna Murray Scholarship will award $5,000 to students pursuing degrees in concrete-related fields, providing financial support to help the next generation of industry professionals begin their careers.
