ACI Foundation Announces New Fellowship

Farmington Hills, Mich. (April 3, 2014) – The ACI Foundation has announced the establishment of a new fellowship in honor of the founders of the ACI Foundation Fellowship Program – Daniel L. Baker, of Baker Concrete Construction, James R. and Sharon Cagley and Cagley & Associates, and Thomas D. Verti of Pankow and the Charles Pankow Foundation.

The announcement was made at the American Concrete Institute’s (ACI) annual spring convention in Reno, Nevada, USA, during the Tribute to the Fellowship Founders event, where Baker, Cagley, and Verti were honored for “their vision, dedication, and service in launching and sustaining the ACI Foundation Student Fellowships.” This new fellowship in their honor will be awarded to a deserving student beginning in 2015, and brings the total number of fellowships available in 2015 to ten.

The ACI Foundation offers fellowship and scholarship opportunities to students whose studies relate to the concrete industry. ACI Foundation Fellowship awards range from $7,000 to $10,000, and are granted to high-potential undergraduate and graduate students who are studying engineering, construction management, or other related fields of study in the area of concrete. Fellowship applicants must be nominated by a faculty member who is also an ACI member to be considered for these awards. Those students receiving Fellowships also receive paid travel and registration to two ACI Conventions, assignment to an industry mentor, and a summer internship, in some cases
